Indicators

A weighing indicator is the electronics and display of a scale, available separately from the platform. That is the usual set-up for industrial weighing systems: the weighing platform or the load cells sit on the floor or in the structure, and the indicator hangs at eye level on a column, on the wall or on a swivel arm. That way nobody has to bend down, and if the display breaks, you replace it rather than the whole scale. We supply indicators from Baxtran, Adam Equipment, KERN and WPL Industries.

We don't just supply it, we keep it in good shape

  • Installation on site (optional)We come to level it and set it up on your floor, and keep it accurate with an annual inspection and calibration.
  • Verified from the factoryWe supply scales verified from the factory; the initial verification is carried out by the manufacturer, and re-verification is arranged through the manufacturer.
  • Calibration certificate for ISO, HACCP and GMPTraceable to standards, including the measurement uncertainty - usable in your quality system.
  • Calibration to EURAMET cg-18The European guideline for non-automatic weighing instruments: linearity, repeatability and eccentricity.

Weighing indicators: the display separate from the weighing platform

What to look for when choosing

What the indicator needs to do determines the price more than the display does. Reading and taring is the basis; above that come counting, checking against an upper and lower limit, building recipes and printing labels. IP rating: in a dry workshop IP54 is sufficient; if you hose down you need IP67 or IP68 — and make sure that both the housing and the cable gland have that rating. Interfaces: RS232 is the classic output to a printer or PC; Ethernet and Wi-Fi are common as soon as the weighing has to end up in an ERP system. Power supply: a battery version weighs where there is no socket. If the indicator needs to control a process or pass on data, read filling and dosing by weight and connecting a scale to a PC, PLC or ERP.

Legal-for-trade use

An indicator is only verified in combination with the weighing platform or load cells to which it is connected; the verification applies to the complete weighing instrument and not to the separate component. If you replace an indicator on a verified scale, that combination must be re-verified. We supply verified combinations from the factory; the initial verification and re-verification are carried out through the manufacturer.

Related categories

You can combine an indicator with load cells into a custom weighing system, or connect it to an existing floor scale or pallet scale. If the weighing needs to go to an administration system, also take a look at the weighing software.

Which brands

Here we carry Baxtran, Kern, Adam, Ohaus and WPL Industries. These are brands we are a dealer for, and we are authorised by the manufacturer to repair and recalibrate their weighing indicators.

Verified or not

Of these 43 series, 15 can be used in a verified weighing system, 36 versions in total: they have a type approval. The indicator is verified together with the platform; that verification is carried out by the manufacturer.

Maintenance, calibration and repair

We replace a damaged load cell or a faulty indicator with original parts; we then readjust the scale and check it with test weights. See replacing a load cell and faults and calibration with a certificate; for weighbridges and silos, weighbridge and silo weighing.

Frequently asked questions

Can a weighing indicator be verified?

An indicator is verified together with the weighing platform. Indicators with a type approval are marked "Available verified" on the model page; the verification of the complete system is carried out by the manufacturer.

Will this indicator fit my existing weighing platform?

Usually, yes, if the load cells are still in good condition. We check whether the platform and indicator are compatible and match them to each other.

Can you also maintain a weighing indicator?

Yes. We repair and recalibrate indicators and weighing systems, using original parts.
