Medical scales

A medical scale is used to make a diagnosis, determine a medication dose or monitor a treatment. That places different demands on it than on a bathroom scale: the instrument must be verified in accuracy Class III and the weight must be repeatable, even when the patient is not standing still. Our range runs from baby scales from 15 kg to personal, chair and wheelchair scales up to 600 kg, from KERN, Baxtran and Adam Equipment.

Medical scales for practice, clinic and home care

Which version for which patient

A flat personal scale is sufficient for anyone who can stand unaided; look for a non-slip surface and a display that can be read without bending down. A chair scale is for anyone who cannot stand for long, with armrests and brakes. A wheelchair scale has an access ramp and a tare setting that removes the weight of the wheelchair. A baby scale reads in grams and has a hold function that holds the value while the child moves — without that function you measure the movement and not the child. A height rod or stadiometer is part of the set-up in practice as soon as you record BMI.

Verification requirement in healthcare

If the weight is used for diagnosis, dosing or treatment, a verified Class III scale is a legal requirement, and that verification must be repeated periodically. We supply scales verified from the factory; the initial verification is carried out by the manufacturer and re-verification is arranged through the manufacturer. Related categories

If you are looking specifically for a personal scale or a baby scale, these are listed separately. For weighing samples in the clinic's laboratory, take a look at the laboratory balances, and for the annual check of your instruments, see the check weights.

What you can choose from

The range runs from 15 kg to 600 kg. The finest readability is 2 g. Which one you need depends on the smallest weight you still want to see: a scale that goes up to 600 kg reads more coarsely than one that stops at 15 kg.

Which brands

Here we carry Kern, Adam and Baxtran. These are brands we are a dealer for, and we are authorised by the manufacturer to repair and recalibrate their scales.

Verified or not

Of these 37 series, 15 can be supplied verified with the green M mark, 30 versions in total. You need that mark as soon as the weight determines what a customer pays. We supply scales verified from the factory; the initial verification is carried out by the manufacturer and re-verification is arranged through the manufacturer. See re-verification.

Maintenance, calibration and repair

What we sell, we also maintain. You can have a medical scale calibrated with a certificate or repaired with original parts by us; if it is verified, re-verification is arranged through the manufacturer. More under scale service.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a scale from this page verified?

Some of the series here can be supplied verified, with the green M mark. This is shown for each model under "Available verified"; we supply them verified from the factory, and re-verification is arranged through the manufacturer.

What weighing range do I need?

Take the heaviest item you will ever want to weigh and add the packaging or the pallet. A scale chosen with a much larger capacity reads more coarsely than necessary.

Can you also maintain the scale?

Yes. We are authorised by the manufacturer to repair and recalibrate, using original parts.
